I relocated to the North Norfolk coast a few years ago when my dog inspired my adventure into pet portraiture, the beautiful countryside walks provides inspiration for my digital and more traditional artwork.
I create both digital art and artwork in various media including oil, acrylic and various mediums such as sand, beads, tissue paper etc.
I enjoyed art at school but chose to study catering at college. Unfortunately food preparation at that time didn't involve the same creativity it does today, so I ended up working in an office which limited my creative talents to painting murals on the childrens walls.
I picked up a paint brush again when I found myself no longer working, taught myself how to effectively use paint and started a Contemporary Pet Portraits business, some examples of which you will find on this website.
I decided to take a diploma course in oil painting to help with my creative skills, introduce myself to new techniques and materials I had not discovered before.
I finished the diploma in 2019.
After the course I started exploring digital art as a medium and enjoyed the simple lines and forms you can create. This is where my love of producing digital artwork began.
I still enjoy painting using both acrylics, oil paints and charcoal, particularly portraiture of animals.
My traditional work is inspired by the likes of Lucian Freud, Christian Hook and Henry Acenscio, enjoying the way the paint strokes form part of the narrative but also the ability to keep the picture loose thus requiring an element of interpretation from the viewer.
